About Testbench
Testbench is a set of small instruments for checking the hardware attached to your computer or phone: microphone, webcam, speakers, keyboard, mouse, screen and game controller. Each one is a single page that loads in under a second and runs entirely in your browser.
Why we built it
Most device-test sites are heavy, full of ads and pop-ups, and ask for camera or microphone access before you have read anything. We wanted the opposite: the test first, clear readings, and plain explanations of what to do when something is wrong.
How the tests work
The pages use standard browser interfaces: MediaDevices for the microphone and camera, Web Audio for levels and tones, keyboard and pointer events, the Fullscreen API and the Gamepad API. Readings are computed on your device. Nothing is recorded unless you press Record, and recordings stay in the page's memory until you close it.
Accuracy
Levels are shown in dBFS (decibels relative to full scale), which is what your operating system sees, not sound pressure in the room. Camera resolution and frame rate are what the browser actually receives, which can be lower than the box says if the cable, port or app limits it.
Who we are
Testbench is published by Byrvia FZE, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates. Found a bug or a device that misbehaves? Tell us which browser and device you used and we'll look into it. Publisher details are in the legal notice.
